Best quality and latency

How to get a smooth picture with as little delay as possible.

The sender adapts to your network by itself. A few simple steps still get the best out of it.

Network

  1. Connect the Mac by cable to your router or switch. Then only the iPhone or iPad shares the wireless link.
  2. Use 5 GHz or 6 GHz Wi-Fi with as few other devices as possible. No guest Wi-Fi, no repeaters.
  3. Don’t use AirDrop on the Mac or iPhone during the show – it briefly disturbs the Wi-Fi.

Quality

Under Qualität (quality), choose:

  • Komprimiert (WLAN) (compressed, Wi-Fi) – the default. Adapts to each device’s connection.
  • Studio (LAN) – every frame on its own in high quality. Only for cable or very good Wi-Fi. Devices with a weaker connection automatically get the compressed picture.

Tip: Keep Bei Engpass Bildrate senken statt Qualität (lower frame rate instead of quality) turned on. Every frame stays sharp even when the Wi-Fi briefly drops.

What happens on bad Wi-Fi?

When a device’s connection gets weak, the sender first sends fewer frames per second, and on a very weak connection switches to a small backup picture. This only affects that one device – all others keep full quality. When the connection recovers, it switches back automatically.

Camera

Built-in FaceTime cameras add some delay of their own. For the lowest latency, use a capture card with 1080p50 or 1080p60.
