Connect Companion

Prepare Companion and connect it to Multiview Live in three steps.

Multiview Live presses your Companion buttons and reads their colours live – for the button picker and for tally.

1. Prepare Companion

  1. Settings → Protocols: turn on the HTTP API.
  2. Settings → Protocols → Satellite: turn on button subscriptions (Companion 4.3 or newer).
  3. Surfaces → Emulator: create an emulator and copy its link, e.g. http://192.168.1.20:8000/emulator/ABC123.

2. Enter it in the app

Open Settings → Companion and enter:

  • the IP address of the Companion computer
  • the port – default 8000
  • Emulator ID or full emulator link – you can simply paste the whole link.

3. Test

Click Test connection. If everything works, you’ll see that the HTTP API is reachable and live buttons are active. The status bar at the bottom then shows live.

Tip: Give the Companion computer a fixed IP address so the settings still fit after a restart.

Grid and Satellite port
  • The app detects the emulator’s rows and columns itself. If that fails, set them by hand.
  • The Satellite port is 16622 by default. If you changed it in Companion, adjust it under Settings → Advanced.
