Switching and keyboard
What a click on a camera does and how to cut with the keyboard.
Transition mode
Under Settings → Workflow → Mode, choose what a click on a camera does:
- Direct CUT – the camera goes on air immediately.
- Direct FADE – the camera fades in.
- PGM/Preview – the camera only goes to preview. It goes on air when you press CUT or FADE. The safest mode if you like to prepare calmly.
The CUT and FADE buttons trigger your global transition buttons in Companion. Set them under Settings → Workflow.
Fields show coloured borders: red = on air, green = on preview. The colours come straight from Companion.
With the keyboard
All commands are in the Control menu:
| Command | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Cut | ⌘↩ |
| Fade / Auto | ⌥⌘↩ |
| Camera 1–9 (like a click) | ⌃1 … ⌃9 |
| Camera 1–9 straight to program | ⌃⇧1 … ⌃⇧9 |
| DSK | ⌃⌘D |
| Tally Button | ⌃⌘T |
Single-key shortcuts
With Control → Single-Key Shortcuts, single keys are enough: Space = CUT, Return = FADE, 1–9 = camera, D = DSK, T = tally.
Careful: an accidental key press will then cut live. That’s why this option is off by default. It’s disabled while setting up the multiview.
